Excellent timing from my side, as it really is springtime in holland with temperatures around 20 *C...

Well.. at least I got it finished before next winter...

I also knitted some fingerless gloves to go with it.

Ik heb er bijpassende vingerloze handschoentjes bij gemaakt.

Celtic Knot

Time after time I stumbled on these cute knitted bracelets with braids or Celtic knots on Pinterest.
Curious on how they are made, I thought I would give it a go/
So... after an hour of fiddling with a french knitting dolly, this was the result!

Telkens kwam ik op Pinterest van die schatige gebreide armbandjes met een vlecht of een keltische knoop tegen. Om te kijken hoe zoiets in elkaar zit, waagde ik een poging, en na een uurtje rommelen met een punnik popje, was dit het resultaat..

Olympic Hats

It has been quite some time since my last post.. I have been quite busy with all sorts of things, but there was just nothing 'blog-worthy' to share..
One of the things I am occupied with, is watching the Olympics... Especially (ofcourse...) speedkating has my attention. Sochi 2014 is absolutely legendary, the results of 'Team NL' are out of this world!

Het is al weer een tijdje geleden sinds mijn laatste berichtje.. Ik ben druk geweest met van alles en nog wat, maar er was niets 'blog-waardig' om te delen...
Een van de dingen die mij op dit moment bezig houden is wel de Olympische spelen... Vooral (uiteraard) het schaatsen. Sochi 2014 is echt legendarisch, de resultaten van 'Team NL' zijn niet van deze wereld!

Since the opening ceremonies, my eyes are drawn on the different team's  knitted and crochet hats, is it just me, or are the hats this year the best ever?

Vanaf de openingsceremonie is mijn blik gericht op de gebreide en gehaakte mutsen van de verschillende teams, ligt het aan mij, of zijn ze dit jaar mooier dan ooit tevoren?

Last friday, mum and I went to the Handwerkbeurs, and on my wish list was yarn and hook for crocheting a hat! Not that a hat is going to be very useful now, as we hardly seen a winter in Holland this season, but I thought it to be fun to crochet a hat (first time)... so... I fell for My Boshi

Afgelopen vrijdag zijn mams en ik naar de Handwerkbeurs geweest. Op mijn booschappenlijstje stond wol en een haaknaald om een muts te haken. Niet dat je op dit moment veel aan een muts hebt, deze 'winter'... maar, het leek me leuk om een muts te haken (voor het eerst)... dus... viel ik voor My Boshi

... And crochet my first "BOSHI" in no time...

... En haakte ik mijn eerste "BOSHI" in een mum van tijd...

Nightrun

Running, in a pitch-dark park, for fun? Indeed!

I laced up my running shoes for the last time in 2013 yesterday evening, to participate in a 5K fun run.
Geared with a headlamp from the goody-bag, me and about 150 runners went off..
Avoiding tree roots, branches, splish-splashing over muddy paths, I did not set my best of times, but had a lot of fun!

Hardlopen, in een pikkedonker park, voor de lol? Jazeker!

Voor de laatste keer in 2013 trok ik gisteravond mijn hardloopschoenen aan, om mee te doen aan een 5Km fun run.
Uitgerust met een hoofdlampje uit de goody-bag vertrok ik samen met ongeveer 150 hardlopers..
Boomwortels en takken ontwijkend, en spetterend over modderige paadjes, zette ik niet mijn beste tijd neer, maar heb ik wel een hoop lol gehad!

Een beetje moeilijk te zien, maar daar sta ik te lachen, achter de dame met de kerstmannenmuts en kerstverlichting...

... and this is what my 2,5 month old shoes look like in daylight.. oops..

...en zo zien mijn 2,5 maand oude schoenen er bij daglicht uit.. oeps..

'Autumn Colors' ...Finished!

I finally managed to finish my autumn colors shawl! And.. I think I have enough (of knitting) scarfs / shawls for now....

Eindelijk heb ik de herfstkleuren sjaal af! En... Ik denk dat ik nu wel even genoeg (van het breien van) sjaals heb...


I bought this Noro Taiyo Yarn to match my red leather jacket...

Ik kocht dit Noro Taiyo garen opdat het bij mijn rode leren jasje zou passen....

... which it does.
It also goes well with my parka:

Domestic (oh my) goddess

As it was my birthday last thursday I thought it would be nice to bake a cake to bring to work.
I thought one cake to be too short, so two cakes it was going to be.
A Carrotcake based on a recipe by Paul Hollywood (yep.. that "Great British Bake off" man). And a Rotweinkuche, which I rather refer to as 'Bridget Jones' Cake"; because of the chocolate and red wine (!!) that go into it. The recipe for this cake I got from a german colleague-and friend some years ago, and I have baked this one quite some times.
Somehow I always underestimate the amount of time that goes into baking.. Spend practically all sunday in the kitchen! But... very smitten with the results:

Omdat het mijn verjaardag was afgelopen donderdag, leek het mij leuk zelf een cake te bakken om op het werk te trakteren. Omdat een enkele cake me te weinig leek, moesten het er twee worden.
Een Carrotcake gebaseerd op een recept van Paul Hollywood (yep... die "Great British Bake Off" meneer) En een Rotweinkuche, die ik liever "Bridget Jones' cake" noem, vanwege de chocolade en rode wijn (!!) die erin gaan. Het recept voor deze cake heb ik jaren geleden van een duitse collega-vriendin gekregen, deze heb ik ook al aardig wat keren gemaakt.
Om de een of andere reden onderschat ik altijd hoeveel tijd er in bakken gaat zitten... heb zo'n beetje de hele zondag in de keuken doorgebracht! Maar... heel blij met het resultaat:
