Well, this evening a meeting with the heads of the comittee was announced...
All the dutch press gathered in Leeuwarden, Fryslan's headcity...
The exitement was as if it was the election of a new pope...
Holland was waiting for black or white smoke...
Supersticious theories about Ducks (if they not quack, the tour will go on), Moles (the more heaps they make in the land, the colder it gets) and the Full moon (with Full moon and with New Moon the weather is about to change) kept the spirit up...

Heel de nederlandse pers had zich verzameld in Leeuwarden...
Met een spanning alsof er een nieuwe Paus gekozen zou worden, wacht nederland op witte of zwarte rook...
Bijgelovige theorieen over Eenden (als ze niet kwaken, zou de tocht doorgaan), Mollen (hoe meer hopen op het land, hoe kouder het wordt) en de Volle maan (bij Volle-en Nieuwe Maan slaat het weer om) Hield de gemoederen hoog...
A minute ago, the officials announced that it is NOT going to take place.
The quality of the ice over the entire 200km track is not good enough and / or not safe enough to have the race this weekend.
As from sunday they expect temperatures to rise above zero...
Een minuut geleden kondigden de officials aan dat het NIET doorgaat
De kwaliteit van het ijs over de hele route van 200km is niet goed genoeg en / of niet veilig genoeg om de race dit weekend door te laten gaan.
Vanaf zondag gaat het dooien..
What a shame, there must be alot of disappointed people about........ Obviously safety of the competitors is paramount.
